Arizona Criminal Speeding Ticket
2005
Out-of-state criminal speeding ticket…?
I recently went to Arizona (I live in California) to visit my wifes best friend in Prescott. However, on the way while driving through a very small town I was pulled over by the local sheriff.
Apparently I was doing 89, which I can understand. It was late, I was tired and wanted to get to my destination. However, I did NOT know that this was a criminal offense in the state of Arizona.
Now, I work a fairly time-intensive job in Los Angeles and almost certainly CANNOT appear on a Monday for a court appearance in the middle-of-nowhere-Arizona. The loss of time on the job would most undoubtedly get me fired.
What should I do?
Call the court in Arizona to see if you have other options, but most likely you will either have to get a lawyer to appear for you, or appear yourself.
Failure to appear will result in a bench warrant – i.e. arrest, jail, record, etc.
