what happens if I don’t pay a speeding ticket?

I’m from Mexico, and my driver license is mexican too.. I was just passing by Texas in order to go to Arizona and a cop ticket me ’cause i was 10% over the speedlimit (70). So, the cop told me to call a judge until June 19 and I did, so.. the judge was’t there. A girl told me how much it will cost ($165) and I have until end of month to pay it.. But for me is pretty dificult to do the payment ’cause I’m not living there! I can’t driver 8 houres, go to the US and pay the ticket.. and she didn’t mentioned any options to extend the payment period..

They’ll issue a warrant for your arrest in Texas. If you are found in Texas you could be arrested. They won’t extradite you from Mexico over this. Your driving privileges will also be revoked so if you get pulled over in the US you could be arrested for driving revoked (yes even if you don’t have a US license). Your Mexican license will not be affected by this though since Mexico and the US don’t have any sort of reciprocity agreement on matters like this.

If you tell the clerk or whoever you spoke to that you live in Mexico they will probably tell you an address to mail the payment to.
