Dallas Speeding Ticket Fines
2000

Can you really say that violations are not a source of revenue for the police?
There has been some research saying that increasing speeds are as safe or safer as reducing driving speed. Recently it was discovered when the speed limit was raised 65 at 70, nothing happened. http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20080623/sc_livescience/study70mphsafeas65 Then, in Atlanta, and I've seen this on the news here in Dallas, police are adding an additional penalty on violations to pay for the police GAS. Now, if I'm speeding, why do I have to pay for the gas of the police? http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/metro/stories/2008/06/16/fuel_surcharge.html All violations are a source of income for police and government. If you say give tickets for "security reasons" they're lying. I should also add that I have received a fine the past, not the radar or laser, but a policeman looks at me. Now, how the hell was I speeding there? The cop just wanted another notch on his belt.
As a pro-police as I am, I am inclined to agree with you but only to a point. The individual "police" still are paid their regular salary. It is the municipal, county and state funding of public administration, who see an increase. This is how things as quotas were produced, and how traffic enforcement statitistics ended up being used in personnel decisions, such as promotion. What better way to motivate someone, right? I've said several times before, and I still believe. Most officers have different views on the implementation of traffic. Some avoid at all costs, while others do so only when something important. Still others can use it as a tool for further investigation in unrelated cases, such as research drugs, and there's always one or two who seem to live for him. That said, most officers I know regarding speed traps, speeding or violations to penny, as Bachelor in every way, and a huge waste of your time. They, too, would rather be elsewhere. As for the price of gas goes, though I can understand the logic behind it, I've never been a fan of tacking on various charges to anything worthy or not. Before the end, cost much more than 15 leading to things like the mortgage payment was lost. Speak not the just punishment of the crime. I've always been an advocate for small penalty for large and small sh ** large penalties for sh **. The mayors and city councils, however, is only $ $ $. ** Edit ** Sorry Kenneth disagree, but … While Quotas have been banned in many places, now officially existed and still exist in other forms such as performance standards. It was not until 2000 that the State of New Jersey leglislated eventually to ban the fees. Http: / / www.njstatelib.org/NJLH/LH2000/ch164.htm and as recently as this year, some police unions are still struggling named quotas as an alternative. http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/22/2253.asp A rose by any other name …. The very bottom line is this. The municipality receives a significant part of fines imposed for convictions of driving, allowing them to pad its general fund. This makes shopping, new toys and programs, and expenditures without raising taxes. The higher taxes = fewer votes the next time, see? Police officers, especially in small towns, municipalities, etc., are constantly hearing "Write more tickets. Write more tickets. Write more tickets." Some people do not even bother to disguise it as an issue is security, and just say "Write more tickets. We need the revenue." motivators, such as promotion decisions and "assessments performance, still based in part on traffic enforcement, to the chagrin of police officers more … except perhaps the few that you like. We all know who they are. In general, file police officers and the rank I hate this shit. They would rather be able to gross inflow of offenders, while just warning to juvenile offenders and to return to patrol. It comes down to "if you like your job, you will do what they want to do." It is unfair to most police the actions of their governments, and I dare say that the vast majority of line officers about their local politicians, nothing meets moneygrubbing. Police, firefighters, teachers, burger flippers … We are all agents of our employers just trying to pay our bills. We do the best we can, within our borders, but not change who we are powerless to change. That has to come from waaay up. If you could find a state legislator or two, which would be present Bills to deny local governments ANY returns on the implementation of traffic revenue, you'd see things change again to "do what is needed enforce, and leave the rest alone.
