Fighting Ontario Speeding Tickets
2001
Can I fight this speeding?
I live in Ontario, Canada and received a speeding ticket section 128 to go 141 kmh on a hours in the area of 100 km. Its obvious is not a ticket you want to pay, much less I have on my insurance record. The police officer gives me a ticket into my bad license on the ticket (put an O instead of 0). Do you have a case here? My mistake, I meant the license plate license.
No, because any reasonable could determine that the officer made a small mistake in writing your registration number. In general, 0 and O gets accidentally change everything all the time, as they are similar. If brought up in court, a judge could easily determine that it was still your car. They have their name, car type and the corresponding registration, all within a letter / number – and the officer could probably be identified as the person stopped. Yes you can fight it, but you may not win that point. The only way to get it reduced, perhaps, is whether the official is not present your case.
