Illinois Court Supervision?

I got a speeding ticket and took a drivers safety class to get it off my record (as long as I didnt get a ticket in 4 months) almost 6 months ago. Today I got another ticket and it says I can not take the class again. My question is: Is there anyway I can still get court supervision even though I have had a ticket in the last year? Can I go to court to get supervision or is there any other way to do it? If I do go to court do I need a lawyer?

In Illinois, when you take a driving class and you get no further tickets during your supervision time, your original ticket is not a conviction. It will always be on your driving record but not held against you. So your previous ticket will not effect your request for supervision.

You still qualify for court supervision since your previous court supervision was satified with the class and no new tickets during the time period set by the judge.

Even though no class is allowed by the new ticket, you still can receive court supervision. It has to be set by a judge. So go to the court date and ask for it. The supervision time period will be longer but you should be fine. Unless the speeding ticket is for some outragous speed like 55 in a 20 mph school zone with children present. Or 70 in a 45 mph construction zone with workers present.

You can retain the services of a lawyer if you choose to. It will be more money out of you pocket.

In Illinois, it’s based on tickets/convictions in a year. 3 or more moving violations in a year will get your license suspended for 3 months. Any violations during the suspension time will only extend your suspension period. Those under the age 18 are allowed 2 moving violations before a suspension.
