I got a ticket for speeding, im from ohio and 17 y.o….. what will happen?

I was going 47 in a 25… I had no idea it was that low, and we just moved here like a month ago. I have to go to court, what do you think will happen? The cop told me that usually the first one is a free bee, but im worried cause it was a lot higher than the limit. Will my insurence go up too? how much??

Stick with the story because you should probably fight it in court. If the judge or magistrate finds you guilty, then you will have five points on your license. Rarely are the first tickets “freebies”. Not at all, actually. I think he was probably on his way to getting a donut and just so happened that your speeding made him think about doing his job instead of getting a donut. Sorry about that.

Depending on your rating, you will most likely pay a surcharge for up to six years. As to how much, well, find out if you are found not responsible for the ticket before going to your insurance agent. If you are found responsible, then you should ask your agent. It may not be pretty though…
