Speeding

Can a cop do this???

Last night my friend and i were driving to lawrence, ks from topeka on the interstate and we got pulled over. We were driving BEHIND the cop and he was going FASTER than us. All of a sudden he turned on his lights and breaked to 60, and so did we because we didn’t know what was going on. He then got behind us and pulled us over and said he clocked us at 81 and the speed limit was 70. The cop had to have been going at least 85. She got a $102 ticket. Can a cop do this? how can he pull us over if he was going faster than us?!!
she wasn’t speeding on purpose…we figured the cop wouldn’t be speeding and she wasn’t paying attention, so she just stayed behind the cop
okay sorry about the confusion…i forgot to mention that we were behind the cop since we got on the interstate. the cop was going the speed limit and so were we…he gradually started to speed up, so i guess we did too without knowing it. we did not catch up with the cop.

Some people are under the impression that if they get behind a Police car, they can not receive a speeding ticket. If you keep track of this forum, someone will ask the question again. I’m not accusing your friend of doing this, but I’m sure the Officer shook his head when he looked at his speedometer, and saw your friend pacing him.
