Louisville Ky Speeding Ticket

Is there anyway to avoid getting my license suspended?

I got a speeding ticket doing 27mph over in louisville, ky this is my 3rd ticket, my first one was about a year and a half ago and i went to traffic school for that, my second one was about 4 months ago and i went to traffic school for that one too, now this one is a mandatory court appearance but I need my license because I live an hour away from where I work so there is no way I can afford to have my license suspended so I was just wanting to know if I have a chance of getting off.

Kentucky law states that speeding 26mph or more over the posted speed limit requires a court appearance. Normally, traffic school is only offered if you have not attended within the past two years. If you were able to attend traffic school more than once within a two year period, you got lucky. By attending traffic school, you do not have those points against your drivers license.

If you are convicted of driving over 25mph you will get an automatic 90 day suspension of driving privileges. Since your ticket states 27mph, you have a good chance of pleading down to 24mph over the posted limit to avoid suspension and only having half the points on your drivers license as long as it was on a limited access (Interstate or Expressway). If you were going over 25mph or more on a city street, the judge will most likely not let you plead to a lower speed.

You have to go to court… so dress nice, be friendly, be prepared to wait for hours until your case comes up, and be willing to say that you were speeding (but not as fast as the policeman said)… and bring your checkbook.
