MA SPEEDING TICKET HELP?
I got a speeding ticket going 123+ on a 55. It is posted, clocked, and estimated. Speeding is a 90/17. On the place where you write how much is the fine, it is just a long line nothing is written. And it is a criminal application which means I have to go to court and I am 20 years old. will be 21 in one month. How bad is this speeding ticket, and how can there be a way for me to get out of it. The cop was behind me for about 5 minutes, I was going speed limit 55, than 65, than I went down to 50, he would only stay behind me, than I saw a hill in front of my (95 south highway) so I just pressed the gas pedel and thought I lost him so I went back to 60, after like 30 seconds he puts his light on me, searches my car for drugs and does an alcohol test. He claims I was marking lanes. IS THERE A WAY OUT TO THIS PLEASE HELP. I could only thing that he mistook me for another person as this happen at 11:45PM, only 2 or 3 cars in the highway.
Your offense is normally labeled as “Aggravated Speed,” “Reckless Driving,” or violations similarly worded.
These type offenses are normally a result of drivers exceeding the posted limit by 25mph or over!
Nothing is written in the line where it tells you what your fine is…because you have a MANDATORY appearance before a judge!
To make matters worse…from what you say…it sounds like you may even have attempted to elude. Many states have felony charges when attempting to elude law enforcement. You need to watch more cop shows on television that show what happens to people who try to outrun the cops. People get hurt or killed!
I disagree with “Billy Blowfly” in that it doesn’t take more than 30 seconds to determine a drivers speed whether using an estimate, pacing, or radar equipment! Also, there is no “harassment” involved if the officer is watching YOUR violations. Any delay in the officers stop would be attributed to the time it took to call in your registration information and location of his/her intended stop!
Personally, I think your manner of driving is problematic of most juvenile drivers today. You think having the horsepower is “cool” and you not only risk YOUR life…but the lives of others who you share the roadway with.
Is there a way out of this type ticket….yes…slow your car down and act like an adult when behind the wheel of a car.
Your defense of “there were other cars on the roadway…the officer may have mistaken me for them..” won’t get it.
Your best bet….Plead “stupidity” and throw yourself upon the mercy of the court!
