minnesota speeding fines
Am I in trouble? False name to an officer.?

I live in Minnesota. I was arrested three months to give a false name (name of my best friend) an officer. Although that could have also given their date of birth, I gave him mine. I'm also charged with driving with a suspended license … although a month before the arrest renewed my license and was not informed that he had been suspended. No letter in the mail. Nothing. My court date is approaching and I know I will be charged of gross misdemeanor giving a false name to an officer. I've never been in trouble with the law, and most that I have received a speeding ticket. I'm worried about what my punishement be. Will I be fined just because it's my first offense … or do I have to wait for the punishment that comes with a misdemeanor? Thoughts? I am sooo nervous. I've never had problems like this before. Damn stupid drunk: (

Parole officer I have some experience with persons accused of such crimes. In most circumstances, I mean 90% of these cases, no criminal record, the offender will be placed on probation, must pay a large amount of fines and fees, make community service, and in certain situations may be sentenced to jail. In general, prison sentences are suspended, ie you do not have to go to jail provided they obey the Court.
