ticket for 27 over the speed limit…HELP!!?

Im a 23 y/o male. i was driving back to charlotte nc from mobile al tonight and about 10 miles from my home i was driving pretty fast. my speedomoter sometimes goes dead, which it was. i got pulled over just after midnight and the cop said i was going 92 in a 65. i didnt get a ticket, i got a citation saying i was speeding and i have to go to court next month.. the thing is im trying to become a state trooper. what is the likely penalty that im going to get? how much will it affect my chances with the state troopers? i heard you can talk with the prosecutor before the court date to get it reduced, is that all you have to do is talk to the prosecutor? thanks to everyone who responds

You’re going to be fined. Pay the ticket and move on. BTW, a ticket and a citation are the same thing. At 27 over, I’m surprised he didn’t write you up for willful reckless. But you’re probably looking at fine between $150 and $300 (depending on the state you live in).

I don’t know how it will affect your chances of getting on the State Patrol. And I doubt if a prosecutor will work very hard to amend a speeding ticket. A ticket is only an infraction and it is what it is.
