Motorway Speeding Code
2000

What should the speed limit on motorways be?
I think the current speed limit of 70mph on British motorways is just too slow, this speed limit has been in place for so long and is just totally outdated nowadays.
No one even sticks to this speed limit any more, cars are far safer and people lead busier and more hectic lifestyles, people are in a hurry and 70mph is not fast enough. I mean how can you say its fine to drive at 60mph on a B road which will probably be single carriageway, but on a motorway with three lanes its only an extra 10mph.
I personally think the speed limit should be about 90mph, with a strict code that anything over 90mph is speeding.
What do you reckon?
I think that 85 or 90 is reasonable, that’s what a lot of people that I know do, and that just naturally how fast I go without looking at the speedometer. I can do 75, but I have to look at the speedo constantly or set the cruise.
