nassau county speeding ticket fines
I got a speeding ticket, 70 mph in 55 mph, new york state, nassau county? how much fine and points approx?

What am i looking at here? I’m going to go to court and plead not guilty….approximately how much fine and pts will i be looking at here? is it possible for just a fine and no points?

i have no prior offenses, thank you for your responses!

Speed in excess of 55mph requires a court appearance.
Plead not guilty. Nassau Traffic court takes forever to schedule a trial (usually) Time on insurance is from date of ticket, so the longer it takes to get a plea, the less time your insurance can surcharge you. Plead not guilty by mail and request a supporting deposition from the cop (directions are on the site below) They must get it by return date though. They will schedule a conference (just a date) to discuss a possible plea and your options. Odds are they will offer you a plea. A trial means more money, OT etc for them. They’d rather just get your $$$ as soon as possible!
When you get to cooper st, there is a guy up front who is like the prosecutor. Talk to him. With no priors, he may offer you a no points, fine only deal to a non moving violation, esp if you plead guilty on the spot. The WHOLE thing, is points avoidance and something that will not raise your insurance (like a no seat belt or equipment violation) Points in NYS not only equals a bigger fine BUT ALSO driver assessment fees. DMV will hit you up, every year x 3 yrs for an additional 100 bucks or son for having “points” on you lic. The courts sometimes fail to disclose that and it comes as a surprise.

No points is the goal. Seat belt is a good offer. 100 fine. They are happy, you are happy.

see here for a fine schedule…..(BTW, its not anything more than a couple of hundred bucks…look at other fines. With plea, it may be less than 150 bucks)

PS…slow down. Odds are you where going faster than 70, correct? They usually won’t nail you til 75 or more, so he may have cut you a break!
