Wrecked someone else’s car, will my insurance go up?
Hello,
I recently had a minor accident in my bf’s car. I hydroplaned and ran off the side of the road on to a bank. There was minor damage to the car, no other vehicles or property was involved. I was going under the speed limit when I wrecked and I got a ticket, for “exceeding a safe speed”. But I got the ticket completely dropped, no points, no conviction, didn’t even have to pay court costs. I know that his insurance co is going to go after mine to pick up the cost of the damage done to the vehicle. Will my insurance go up even though I have no ticket and nothing on my driving record? I didn’t think they could give me insurance points if I don’t have dmv points? I live in NC, btw. Thanks!
It could go up a bit but it depends on your insurance company. Just be glad the charges were dropped and you (both) had insurance. Not to worry.
