speeding for the first time in Charlotte NC?

Last night I received my first speeding ticket .. i was going 15 mph over 50 mph and I was polite to the police and everything. The police said the court is optional and the fine is $ 165 .. I really do not mind paying the ticket, but I just dnt want the insurance to go up .. car under the name my father and he is paying for insurance since I'm paying my college tuition (yes and got no financial help so I'm struggling with money) I really do not want my dad to be mad for sure .. So what should I do? I know I must go to court and talk to DA, but I hire a lawyer? or me "Negotiate" on the ticket? think DA could close the ticket if it was my first entry? helpfuk advice would be greatly appreciated .. thanks

Since this is your first post, you may claim PFJ (Prayer for Judgement) the bill be rejected, but if you get another term of 3 years will be charged for both. You no need to hire a lawyer to defend PFJ. You can talk to the prosecutor, when you go to court. There is a period of time before the court begins when you are allowed to speak with the prosecutor and give your plea of guilty or not guilty. While this is his ticket first, then it must be rejected.
