Need to take traffic school for speeding ticket received in another state?

I am a resident of California who received a minor (Under 10 MPH) speeding ticket in Nevada. The Nevada Highway Patrol officer said I could take the traffic school class online to be convinced my record for insurance purposes. But I have to bother, since I have the ticket in Nevada and I am registered in California? Thanks.

A conviction of Nevada will be informed California and is considered a point for the DMV. If the Nevada traffic school avoided a sentence as it does in California, then there will be nothing to report to California. (I do not I am an expert in the law of Nevada, so do not know the effect of traffic school there.)
