Nevada Speeding Ticket Fines
2005
Unpaid Speeding Ticket Nevada?
I am a British citizen living in California on a J1 visa. On March 24th 2008 whilst on vacation I received a speeding ticket in Clark County, Nevada. Posted speed was 70 mph, I was doing 92 mph and I was cited as doing 87 mph.
I was given the ticket and told to call the number and I would find out how much the fine was. Anyway, I continued on my journey and planned on calling the number once I was back in San Francisco. But when I got home the ticket had got all dirty and the citation number was obscured and I couldn’t read it. I called the number and tried to talk to someone about it and they said if I don’t know my citation number there is nothing I ca do about it.
I left it at that and so I haven’t paid anything. I am leaving the country on August 25th to go back to the UK as my J1 visa has run out. I am really worried that there is going to be trouble when I try to leave the country. What if a warrant is out for my arrest? Can they do this? What can I do?
Clark County covers different jurisdictions, try Las Vegas Justice Court to start with, all you need is your name and date of birth and they’ll be able to look up the ticket. DO NOT call 828-3111 it’s the police non emergency line they won’t be able to help you. If LV Justice Court isn’t it try Moapa Justice Court, then Goodsprings Justice Court. I don’t know ANYWHERE in Clark County where the speed limit is 70mph…it’s either 65mph or 75mph on the highways……..
I doubt you’ll have any problems trying to leave the country even if you have a warrant. Just call around and if you find it you’ll be able to pay it over the phone (very user friendly)
