New York Speeding Tickets Fines
2001

I got a speeding ticket in New Jersey and I live in New York. Should I go to court or just pay the fine?
The fine is $180 and it will be no points on my licence. I would go fight but its 60 miles out the way. What should I do?
NYS does not add points for out state tickets.
Pay the fine. New Jersey troopers are the most professional and “by the book” in the US. I they gave you a ticket, it means they have you dead to rights. No way you could possibly convince the judge to set it aside. Plus, New Jersey has laws that severely restrict a judges ability to reduce your penalty. The bottom line. If you were speeding, they likely have iron clad proof and the judge can’t do anything to reduce your fine even if he had a mind to (which, in New Jersey, trust me, they do NOT).
Remember our state slogan….”Welcome to New Jersey….now go home”.
