Ohio Speeding Tickets Fines
2008

Accidently speeding in Ohio. Any benefit to not just mailing the ticket in?
I was on one of those many back country long straight roads and I just let my speed get higher than it should have been. I did it- so I have no intention to claim I didn’t, but I also have a perfect driving record and don’t speed more than 5 MPH or so over the limit.
The cop admitted there was no traffic, and it was a long straight drive with nothing which would have necessarily made it unsafe under the circumstances.
I live 9 1/2 hours away (I’m in graduate school), but Ohio is my home state.
Should I just mail it in and pay the fine, or is it worth going in? it’s only a 2 pt violation- is it worth pleading my case in a letter? Are my insurance rates and such going to go up a ton?
In addition, I’ve had the same insurance company for 8 years and I’ve been driving for 10.
2 pt ticket on a clean license … you live 9 hours away from the court you would have to appear in … and you have 10 years incident free on the road? Just pay the ticket and forget about it!
You could drive back to the court, but if you don’t plan on contesting the violation there would be no point in doing so.
Congratulations on having only one moving violation in 10 years of driving! Doubtful that this one violation will have any severe impact on you, beyond paying the fine!
WANTED observation of a traffic violator, a Mayor no less!
