If a police officer gives a ticket for speeding in Ohio, is just a warning?

I was stopped for speeding Saturday night but not given a ticket. It was my first time stopped and I was not sure what had to happen. The police officer was very polite and took my license, but I did not get a ticket. He never said it was a warning or if I was getting a ticket or what. Will mail you a ticket or I run out of luck and with a warning. I was thinking maybe I got lucky because they have had a perfect driving record until now and I have over 18 years. I live in Ohio, but I had trouble finding information on this topic for my state. Thanks!

I am a police officer, I stop a lot of pilots and not given a ticket more than likely that if the officer not named in the time of the stop just warn you.
