How do I fight this ticket?

Cop pulled me over in my girlfriend’s car in Ohio. She was with me. All of his rudeness aside, I was given a ticket for driving HER car with her registration in Ohio expired. I was doing the speed limit. Was he allowed to pull me over no other reason besides that? Where is a good resource for ohio traffic laws? Also, I live in PA, so how can I get my court date when I can go, not when they told me I had to be there? Thanks for any help!

Yes a policeman can pull anybody over for just expired tags. In state or out of state.

Nobody lets their tags expire then drives; the fine is not worth it. Hopefully your personal drivers license and insurance were in effect.

Governments are broke and looking for money from people not paying attention.

Renew the tags, In many states that is a no points violation, just a fine.

Pay attention and tell your girlfriend to do the same. (she should be paying the fine by the way).

If this is a no point violation, determine the cost of going to court and the cost of travel. You might just pay.
