Pay Sc Speeding Ticket

Speeding Ticket?
Ok, I got a speeding ticket in SC this morning doing 68 in a 40. That’s 28 over. The officer wrote me a ticket for 6 points and $441. I realize I was in the wrong and will definitely slow down, but I read through the state laws and my violation code to see that it stated that
4) in excess of twenty-five miles an hour above the posted limit by a fine of not less than seventy-five dollars nor more than two hundred dollars or imprisoned for not more than thirty days.
I’m thinking that he shouldn’t have charged me $441. He wrote “polite” on the ticket and said that when I went to pay it that they would drop it to 4 points and $144.
What do ya’ll think of this? Was he right to charge me that much in the first place? He also told me to not go to court and just go pay it and they would automatically drop it. Leaves me wondering if he broke the law by writing the ticket in that way. Thanks for giving me your imput!!!
If he got you with radar or vascar I don’t think it would be a great idea to fight this. I can see why you are suspicious, but that extra money could be for court costs.
I’ve never heard of that tactic before. It seems like a preemptive strike by the officer. I make it a point to fight any speeding ticket in court. I always manage to strike a deal(4 times in 25 years of driving.) . They seem to be offering you the deal up front to keep you from taking it to court. You might be able to get a free consultation with an attorney who fights traffic offenses. You need to ask a local what’s going on.
ROAD TRIP!!!
