Can I pay a fine for a speeding ticket I got in Puerto Rico by mail or online from home in California?

We were on the way to the airport to fly home from vacation and had no time to find a “colecturia: to pay in person.

What you can do is call the Department of Transportation MVD here and they can help you out if you wish, their phone numbers are:
787-977-2200 or toll free at 1-800-981-3021. You can call the department of Treasury of Puerto Rico and have them give you the information needed their number is 787-721-2020 when you hear a recorded operator mark 0. Then the person who will answer may put you on hold a moment, when you get her back, tell her you want the Colecturia Central which is the Central Collectors Office where you pay tickets, Income Tax and all that deals with licenses and so on. There, you can ask your question. Because if you send it by mail first then it may get lost the payment and/or it may never get registered. Now, if you have a credit card maybe you can do the payment by phone. Or if you have a family or friend here who you TRUST then you send them the money with the ticket and they can pay it for you. Then if that person pays it for you, they will have to send back to you the recipt of payment which is an original of the chashier and the copy of the ticket which should be the pink copy page. These are the three options available to you. When you choose the person to do the payment for you, be sure that that person is one you can realy trust and who with honest word can do the payment for you. By the way, right now, begins the discount of 40% savings on all tickets to be paid. So no matter the amount of the ticket you are entitled to a 40% discount. This begins on June 1st until August 31 of 2009. This was signed by the both houses here and by the governor so that people who are a bit tight on money can pay, get their drivers or car license and save at the same time. So I first of all suggest you wait until after June 1, 2009 this is in a few days and then take advantage of this nice savings for you and all drivers who have Puerto Rico tickets.
