quebec speeding ticket
Can Quebec po;ice car stop someone when he has not violated any traffic laws (moving or non-moving violations)?

While driving from New York into Quebec on route 15, I was chased by a Candian Police vehicle coming from the opposite direction, the police made a U-turn and stopped me, but I was driving within the speed limit and committed no other moving or non moving violations. The policemean then charged me for having a radar detector on my wind shield dashboard, it was on on that time when he talked to me.
I wish to know if the Quebec police has violated my civil rights in stopping my car for no moving violations. Further I am just a tourist coming from New York into Montreal to attend Mcgill’s graduation ceremony, and no signs on the boarder area advising drivers that radar detectors are illegal in Quebec!

The policeman gave me a ticket for CAD $650+ to reclaim my rada detector and he confiscated my unit. When I asked for leniency he threaten me to put me in jail if I say another word, pure police harrassment I would say! They have the license to highway robbery in Montreal…

um that’s called a foreign country…..US is only country with guaranteed rights……..

as for pulling u he probably had radar detector detector …..they are common in Va and places like that here in the US….
