The speeding ticket in Massachusetts, JoL?

Hello! Last night while returning from a kind of viola at Boston (I live in the outer layer), which was stopped for doing 86 in a 55. He was charged with a civil infraction, speeding mass of 90 to 17. The officer only gave me a ticket for $ 150, but can not afford the luxury of having my license suspended because I have to be in Boston at least once a week for music and preparing for college auditions. However, by law, I have to go above the speed limit by more than a quarter of a mile, it was on a road, and I know for a fact that just released and I had not seen before, and the lights went away. The bill states that used the LIDAR, but also checked "estimates" on the ticket. If I call the ticket the fine or punishment may increase further in the court's discretion if I am found guilty? What are my chances of paying the fine but no points have been added my license?

Massachusetts has a fine tiered system, which means you can pay a fine of more base and then have additional charges on top. For example, the fine for speeding is $ 100 base. But that's just the beginning. If you are found guilty of spending more than 10 mph over the speed limit, add $ 10 for each additional mph traveling on the base 10. For example, say you're convicted of going 85 in a 55 mph zone. You get a free pass to 65 years, but then you get an additional fine of $ 200 for the extra 20 mph from 65 to 85. There is also a $ 50 fee on each ticket for speeding, the money goes into a trust fund treatment of head injuries. Best advice is not always what you want to hear. However, consider this: if the judge goes ahead and start discussions with him quarter-mile rule and technical aspects of the ticket, he imagines it will be just tickled to hear from you? If I was, I'd pay the ticket, take the two points and make my records to a little less dramatic Beantown -. Stuart
