Need for Speed Carbon. How I can win the drifts and checkpoints?

I think I'm driving the car exotic. Not Mazda or the Corvette. I have 15% through the race, but I can not move forward until you get through two checkpoints and drifts left to me. No matter what I do, I can not win the drift or control points. In drifting, I keep hitting the wall, and checkpoints, for some reason I'm not going fast enough.
