Is there any benefit to using a sata 3 hdd on my motherboard that supports sata 2?
I know that sata 3 is backwards compatible and would work on my motherboard that supports sata 2, but is there any benefit? I am assuming I won’t get the extra speed of sata 3, but will I benefit from the improved power management or anything else sata 3 includes?

no, since the controller is not sata 3 that additional features may not be recognized by the controller even if its available with the Disk
