Eurail Pass Validation/Activation?
can i just show the pass at the station’s ticket office to get it validated on my first day of train travel or i should do it some days before? i’ll be in france, switzerland and germany in october, is this the high season? i will use some international high-speed trains but on the weekdays, do you think i need to always reserve a seat? Thank you for your advice
There is a great resource for train travel here: http://www.seat61.com/Railpass.htm#Eurail%20passes . This explains in detail how to validate the pass, how to use it and mistakes to avoid. You validate the pass before the first use at the ticket window in the station. You do not want to do this days before your first trip – just do it before you get on the first train the day of the trip. The site above has links to the various national train sites where you can check schedules and determine whether the specific trains you want to take require reservations. October is not the high season.
