Maryland Speeding Ticket Pay
2011

Speeding ticket in New York with an English international driving permit?
I am 18 years old, and im from England currently studying in maryland with a student visa.
Yesterday, I was driving a rental car and I got pulled by a state trooper for doing 82mph on a 65 in New York.
After giving me issues about driving with my english license and IDP (he said i needed my passport with me when i drive with it), he gave me a ticket.
Firstly, he wrote my dob in dd/mm/yyyy format (like my english license) when it should be mm/dd/yyyy like in america. Would that mean that because its my wrong date of birth, it would invalidate the ticket? Also shouldnt he have realised that the dob shown on the ticket says im 17 which means i couldnt have got a rental.
Also, what would happen if i dont pay it?? Would it affect me if i try and enter the country again?
And if it would, is there any ways for me to get out of paying the ticket? (i dont care about points because it doesnt affect me)
Thanks
First the officer was wrong about passport, you do need to be carrying you UK drivers license for the international to be valid, most will accept a passport also but by itself and international drivers license is not acceptable.
Unlike the urban legends and whatever the other students are telling you minor typo make no difference.
He wrote what was on your stuff, even if he left it out the ticket is valid as a notice to appear and can be amended in court in about 3 seconds.
Don’t now about NYS but in my state you have to be 25 or over the limit before anyone cares to report the ticket to anyone but the DMV.
Does not make any difference to your status, valid student or other visa does.
If you do not pay a warrant may be issued. You have just made minor into more major.
You will have problems renewing your current visa and any future stuff.
