washington speeding ticket cost
I got pulled over for speeding, can the cop send the ticket in the mail?

I was pulled over in washington state by a King County Sheriffs Deputy on an old county road. when the officer pulled me over, he yelled at me and told me he passed (followed) me and that i was going 66 in a 40. (26 over) He took all the pertinent information and wrote it all down on a writing pad. He told me that I was going to get a “hellof a” ticket in the mail and that I needed to “slow the F**K down. I don’t believe i was going that fast because i can barely get my truck to do 70 on an open freeway and this was an old county road. My questions are, Can he send me a ticket in the mail? Can he prove that I was going 26 over) (since he didn’t get me on radar) ((where is the burden of proof on this matter)). If he sends me a ticket, how much can I expect it to cost? I am 16 and this is my first offense and I am hoping for a different if it shows in the mail

Yes, it is legal to mail a ticket.

Police cars have calibrated speedometers, so following you will be recognized as reliable by the courts.

My gut feeling is you are not getting a ticket. It is an unwritten rule in my area that if you chew someone out, you don’t write a ticket. You can only hope King County has a similar rule. Sounds like you got quite an earful.
